I’m sure you’ve been hearing ‘I’m not a politician’, from a lot of candidates lately. It’s true, teachers, civil servants, welders, engineers; regular people that have regular lives are stepping up all over the country; choosing to run for office because our voices aren’t being heard.  -And it’s about time! 

While billionaires take bigger and bigger pieces of the pie, working families and marginalized communities are getting less and less for the labor they provide. People are falling behind, not because we don’t work hard, but because the system isn’t working for regular people anymore; however, it still works for billionaires, corporations, and special interests. 

I am one of those regular people that’s had enough! I’m stepping up and giving rural Utah a choice for representation in November.  

Professionally, I am a caregiver for people with disabilities in Sevier County; I currently reside in Richfield and have been with the same small, nonprofit for seventeen years. When elected, I’m still doing that essential work alongside my position as HD 70’s representative. I don’t have any desire to be a career politician; I do want to help people in my community as much as I am able simply by passing legislation that gives Rural Utahns opportunities to live better, easier lives. I’ve lived in Central Utah for two decades and have watched, sadly, as more and more of my neighbors struggle to live the lives they had always pictured for themselves.  

Our current system dictates that overwhelmingly elections will go to either a Republican or Democrat, but I proudly call myself a Progressive Democrat and will not take corporate donations. I am not beholden to any special interest groups and am willing to work with colleagues of any political affiliation to better the lives of Utahans. 

Let’s make positive changes in Utah that include rural area
